Meet Gary Andes, DVM

 In Andes-Straley Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Gary Andes knows pets.

Not all veterinarians offer lifelong familiarity with the field, but Dr. Gary Andes can make the claim of being involved with the practice of veterinary medicine since childhood. His father, Dr. Gerald Andes served the pets of the Kingsport area since 1947.

Early exposure to the veterinary practice in which his father was a partner provided the perfect background for the launch of his own career. Like his father before him, Dr. Andes strives to provide high quality, compassionate care for multiple generations of area pets.

Education

Dr. Gary Andes is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine

Early Career

Dr. Andes practiced for a few years in Knoxville, Tennessee before joining the partnership his father shared, at the time, with Dr. James (Andes) Straley, in 1981.

Expanding the Practice

The expanded physical plant was put into service in early 2009.

Dr. Andes, and his associates in the practice wished to further improve the lives of clients’ pets by offering a full line of services, including boarding facilities to offer pets a pleasant, safe place to stay while owners are away, and professional grooming services to keep pets looking and feeling their best. Today, the practice also provides exotic pet services, wildlife rehabilitation, and pet photography.

Exotic Pet Services

Dr. Gary Andes is one of the few veterinarians in the Tri-Cities area who treats exotic pets. He and staff members are well versed in the medical care for less traditional species. Boarding services are also available for less-traditional pets.

Dr. Andes Offers a Tradition of Compassion

Clients often comment upon the fact that Dr. Andes cares for pets as if they were his own.

He strives to efficiently combine the wisdom and experience passed on from his father’s generation with modern developments in the pet care industry, creating the best possible state of health for each creature under his care.

He is pleased to treat the pets of clients who have come to the practice for decades, as well as becoming acquainted with new generations.
